Description
In the Shadow of Gaurishanker
Fritz Berger
2014, xvi+296
In the Shadow of Gaurishanker documents the changes seen in Dolakha district in eastern Nepal over the past 40 years. The excellent photos in colour and black and white takes us back to vanishing traditions, costumes and knowledge, and the struggle of the hill people on the way to a better future. Roads, forests and potatoes are the main drivers behind these immense changes, and were possible through the joint efforts of the local people, government forces, and the long-term engagement by Switzerland.
